WIBCA’s Saturday AM Tutorial Program

If you are a parent of a child in grades 1-6 or a teenager in grades 7-11, please communicate with our office at admin@wibca.org or call 514-683-3925 advising your interest in WIBCA’s FREE tutoring program taking place each Saturday from 10am to noon at Riverdale High School in Room# 257.

On the spot registration is available and we are always looking for volunteer tutors.

“Fostering Differences to Promulgate the Strength and Durability of Canadian Diversity” project

LASSA is announcing the first of its events/workshops to be taking place in Montreal, as part of the year long “Fostering Differences to Promulgate the Strength and Durability of Canadian Diversity” project.  Information about other events and the wider project is available at www.fosterindiversity.ca

Workshop: Examining the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Democratic Institutions – Engaging in an Inclusive and Equitable Future

When:  Thursday November 22nd, 2018

Where:  1028-9310 Blvd St-Laurent, Montreal

When:  5:00pm – 8:30pm

Who:   Any newcomers, immigrants, or first and second generation Canadians (and others with an interest in building more equitable and inclusive communities) who wish to engage in discussion with a lawyer and gain a better understanding of your rights and freedoms and constitutional law in Canada (in English)

What: Examine the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with lawyer, Martine Cétoute.  Discuss democratic values and develop a more in-depth understanding of your rights and freedoms through interactive engagement with relevant current events from a Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms perspective.  Develop a stronger sense of how public institutions and laws impact our daily lives as diverse Canadians.  Leave better equipped with the knowledge to have a voice in building equitable participation and treatment within Canadian society.

WIBCA’s Annual Fundraiser Banquet – “Together We Are Stronger”.

The West Island Black Community Association (WIBCA) proudly invites its members, partners, affiliates and general public to their 36th Annual Fundraiser Banquet.

Please join them in celebrating a WAKANDA themed event named ‘Together We Are Stronger’ enjoying an evening filled with entertainment, music, art and fashion noting all profits generated from this event will be allocated to the organizations operating costs and current programs in place to educate and uplift the Youth and Seniors in the community.
